Treatment with Goals and Lasting Results

Specializing in Anxiety, OCD, and Grief
Proven methods. Measurable results.
Areas of Specialty
Since starting my practice in 2007, I’ve dedicated my work to supporting those struggling with Anxiety, OCD, and Grief/Loss—areas where I focus nearly all of my clinical efforts. By specializing rather than practicing as a ‘general’ child psychologist, I provide more intensive, targeted, and effective interventions that help clients achieve meaningful results more quickly, while tailoring strategies to each individual’s unique needs. I make a point to stay current with the latest research and regularly attend professional trainings to ensure that the care I provide is evidence-based, highly effective, and of the highest quality. I remain deeply motivated by the opportunity to empower young people—to help them build resilience, strengthen distress tolerance, and learn how to process difficult emotions in healthy, sustainable ways that support long-term growth and overall well-being.
-
Anxiety Treatment
While we all experience heightened anxiety from time to time, anxiety disorders cause significant and persistent distress, and symptoms interfere with daily functioning.
-
OCD Treatment
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition that occurs when a person becomes caught in a cycle of obsessions and compulsions.
-
Grief Counseling
Grief is a normal reaction to loss. Everyone grieves differently, and there is no timeline. There are no universal stages to grief as it is an individual experience.
Telehealth isn’t just an option. It’s a great option.
COVID-19 forced us all to find new ways of doing things. Therapy is no exception. Interestingly, what began as a necessity is now a significant part of my practice. For many of my clients, telehealth not only works, it works better, and it allows me to extend myself well beyond my immediate geographic area. If you or your child has never participated in a virtual session, contact me. You’ll be surprised at how engaging and effective this type of treatment can be.

I’m Dr. Alison Bomba.
As a licensed psychologist based in Frederick, MD, I have been treating children, adolescents and young adults since 2007. I received my doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University/Washington, D.C. I provide results-driven, compassionate care and use ethical, evidence-based practices to effectively treat various psychiatric conditions.
Just as important as my credentials is the way in which I work with my clients. I am actively and directly engaged. I’m here to discuss and discern. I want nothing more than to provide the best options, even if that means referring clients to other professionals who may be better suited to their needs.
I’m also an active member of the Frederick, MD community. Being involved is something I find incredibly rewarding, both professionally and personally.
